Baily Storm (stable name Bales) is extremely well bred and a good looking horse who we bought at the Doncaster Bloodstock Sales in August 2009.  As a foal he sold for £27,000 and then £110,000 as a four year old to Mr R A Scott, a well known Irish owner who sent him to the Cheltenham Gold Cup winning Irish trainer, Mouse Morris.  Well related, his dam was an unraced sister to Mixed Blends who finished 2nd in a Supreme Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and also won the Listed Tattersalls Gold Cup at Punchestown.  The dam was also a half sister to the dual Whitbread Gold Cup winner, Topsham Bay.

He ran four times for Chasing Gold last season winning two, and coming 2^nd once, in Novice Hurdles.  He had a handicap mark of 120 and has now progressed to Novice Chasing and won at his first attempt, beating AP McCoy on Classic Swain and has since gone on to win his next two races at Hexham and Worcester and is a very exciting horse to follow.  We plan to run him in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen in July 2010.  From seven runs for Chasing Gold he has won 5 and been 2^nd once, a really remarkable record.

Ruby Bay is the winner of an Irish Point to Point over 3 miles in March 2010 and is a good prospect.  He comes from a strong National Hunt family which includes Triumph Hurdle winner Baron Blakeney.  He was sold as a yearling for £17,000 and did not make his reserve at the recent Cheltenham NH sale.  Tim Vaughan obtained him privately after the sale.  Tim is very confident that this horse will go on to win some decent races.  He is being turned out for the summer and will come back into training in due course for an autumn and winter campaign.  I am sure he will be one to look forward to.

3 year old bay gelding

Whilst this horse is only a 3 year old he is a lovely stamp of a horse and is very forward and will be ready to run this year.  He is the first foal of Diletia who, as mentioned above, is a six time winner, and it is felt her progeny could be very successful.  Diletia was a very gutsy mare winning 5 hurdle races between 2 miles 3 furlongs and 3 miles 1 furlong.   Jumps Road has been broken by the Alners and they think he is a great prospect.  He will start off in bumpers but will certainly make a chaser and Colin Tizzard is very much looking forward to having him.  He will go into full training on 1^st August 2010.

Generous Mare (as yet un-named)

Nellie is by the top sire Generous out of the mare Miss Laetitia who produced both Willy the Slip and Diletia.  Willy The Slip was a very promising horse who won for Chasing Gold the season before last but then suffered an injury and had to be put down.  Nellie is a half sister to Diletia who won six races, five over hurdles and one on the flat.  She is an interesting prospect, has a lovely temperament and attitude, and may well start in a bumper but certainly has the scope to go hurdling and chasing.

Nellie has been at the Alners’ for the last couple of years and was broken at two and has been brought in for periods preparing her for training and will go into full training in August with Tim Walford in Yorkshire.  We hope she will be ready to run from the autumn.
